You can call me Habit/Evan. I am an alter in The Egregore. bodily 18. My pronouns are he/him mostly. I see myself in him & him, but I am generally source disconnected.

My obligatory rant about Wolfenstein starts here ↓

Wolfenstein is a game series thats had it's IP passed around like — insert insensitive joke here — it's been through the studios of most of the big names you would know if you're into games at all. The original Wolfenstein came out in 1981, when it was originally based off the film The Guns of Navarone & Berzerk arcade games. It was a standard 2D procederally generated stealth adventure. Don't be fooled though, Castle Wolfenstein was a wonderous product of it's time, despite the hardware and limitations of the 80s, it would be toted as a paragon of what stealth games should be. It wouldn't really develop the classic Wolfenstein theme that most know until 2001 with Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
yes. I am skipping right over the 1992 release of Wolfenstein 3D. It's functionally just a more tech literate ""3D"" version of Castle. And I hold a mild grudge for it generally gutting the original's stealth mechanics. Of course, I adore the action-adventure direction Wolfenstein takes but. My stealth-adventure. 😪😪 Not a bad game but not much to say that hasn't been said.In the 2001 release the game would begin to lean into it's sci-fi fantasy roots it's known for today, with the main enemies of the game being hordes of Zombies, Mummies and Nazis. It still didn't hold too cohesive of a story until 2009 however with the release of simply Wolfenstein, even so there still wasn't much for actual story development, 2009 laid seeds for the ideas but it came out very clunky and messy. The Wolfenstein games up to 2014 were first-and-foremost generally just semi-stealth FPS games where you kill a bunch of Nazis and save the world. However, in 2014, the entire direction would change with Wolfenstein: The New Order. The New Order is one of 3 in the official soft reboots by Machinegames, The remake trilogy is loosely connected to 2009's Wolfenstein and I would honestly recommend playing that before you play the trilogy. This is where I originally heard & got interested in Wolfenstein. It remains somewhat true to source as you continue to follow Blazkowicz's story and has a couple recurring characters, you awake 14 years post WW2 in a Universe where the Nazi's DID win, taking over the globe and expanding impossibly. An incredible sci-fi story with equal parts of blood, guts and Nazi killing as well as liberation and historical commentary. It is as much a satisfying shooter as it is a wonderful vehicle of teaching the toxicity in one view ideologies.
In the third game: Wolfenstein: The New Colossus there is a full on cameo for Adolf Hitler meant to disparage and shed light on the true, senile old man he was.Needless to say, despite its first impression on most, it is a game that is staunchly anti nazism. And It is an absolute heart pumping story to say the least. It goes in a million different directions and leaves little room for adjusting as it throws you around. The story of New Order is continued in Old Blood & New Colossus, the primary antagonist is of course, the final boss of the original games, but also "Frau Engel"
the girl in the above photo (licking Blazkowicz) is Frau Engel post The New Order game. The art was promo for The New Colossus.her actual name is Irene Engel, and she is the captain of the Azrmerzer & a concentration camp in annexed Croatia (which you do visit), she is a very eccentric woman (to say the least). I can't really say much else without spoiling the main plot. ok thank you for reading if you did? can't believe anyone did though I waffled so bad. NOW GO PLAY WOLFENSTEIN!!!!!
